About the Course |
|
The critical element which differentiates successful managers from poor performers is the application of effective interpersonal and influencing skills. By attending this course you will acquire the principles of effective management, identify your strengths and weaknesses and develop the skills necessary to support your own personal management style. You will take away realistic, relevant and immediately usable models and techniques which will dramatically improve your performance as a manager and that of your staff and give your organisation a significant competitive edge.
Very often, people have taken on management responsibilities on the strength of their technical or specialist skills. However, your continued success in a management role depends on achieving results through others - which requires a significantly different skill set. Technical professionals, whatever their functional area, face very similar challenges in adapting their skill base to a new range of priorities.
This course has been specifically designed to address the particular problems faced by managers like yourself. You will focus on developing the skills which will enable you to lead and motivate your people to meet and exceed your objectives. You will learn how to anticipate and manage conflict, and to delegate effectively in order to get poor performers back on track and to stimulate your high performers. Once back in the workplace, you will be able to apply a portfolio of approaches to develop and sustain productive working relationships with your colleagues and build a committed and highly productive team.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of those with a specialist skill who are now responsible for managing the work of others. It caters for professionals in fields such as finance, law, engineering, research, science, IT and other technical services.
