Women aspiring to leadership positions face particular challenges. They often have to actively seek leadership opportunities and face more rigorous tests to determine their suitability for promotion.
To be able to create your own opportunities it is vital that you identify and acquire the characteristics and competencies of an effective leader and fuse these into your own personal style.

About the Course Director |
Isabel Deeble,Karen Portsmouth
Isabel Deeble With over 25 years experience in research, consulting and training Isabel conducts numerous corporate programs and one-on-one coaching in leadership and communication for private and corporate clients. University trained and with an extensive background in performing arts, Isabel has credentials, experience and accreditation in presentation skills, behavioural styles, interpersonal communication and visual credibility. Isabel has also been trained in the USA in internationally recognised principles of influence and persuasion, Isabel applies these principles to her content and processes as they are critical to effective leadership negotiation. Isabel also incorporates learnings and insights of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) into her training and consulting. She is an accomplished public speaker and is vice-president of the National Speakers Association of Australia (NSW). Isabel is currently the Managing Director of MPowering Pty Ltd, an executive development organisation. She is a communication specialist who is an entertaining and compelling presenter, effectively engaging her audiences and leaving them enthused to take personal action to enhance their leadership, persuasion and negotiation skills. Isabel has been a consultant to The Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade training SE Asian trade commissioners and senior members of the Ministry of Education in China. Her current clients range in size from one-person businesses to large merchant banks. Karen Portsmouth Karen Portsmouth has over 20 years experience working with public and private sector companies, providing a range of organisational development and project delivery services, across many industries including: oil and gas; mining; civil construction; transportation; health; educational and the public sector. Karen has worked with all levels within organisations with particular emphasis on frontline, management and senior executive/board members to drive leadership, performance and innovation. Her purpose is to assist organisations, business units and projects to achieve successful outcomes and improve their bottom line. She accomplishes this through the development of peoples' personal and business skills, interfaces and the infrastructure of the organisation. As the Director of a Management Consultancy, Karen is able to utilise her career experience as a senior manager, trainer and consultant to deliver customised programs for clients aimed at developing the business and its people. This is supported through her training, knowledge and experience in quality and risk management. Karen also has extensive experience in business planning, problem solving, process redesign/ reengineering, change management, measurement (KPIs) and system/ framework development. She has designed, marketed, implemented and evaluated a wide range of educational and development programs such as leadership, communication and negotiation, safety and health and customer service. |
