About the Course |
If leadership theory was the answer to poor leadership we would be in great shape! Unfortunately many current leadership theories are just more sophisticated forms of the same ideas introduced over 100 years ago.
And while these theories worked well in times of gradual change, with relatively unskilled employees in a manufacturing and resource focused economy, the game has now well and truly changed.
Instead of, compliance, control and loyalty, management are now looking for employees who “own” their roles, take initiative, innovate and accept accountability! They want workers who are resilient, flexible, self motivated, who are committed and work collaboratively in teams.
Rather than inundate you with more and more theory in this practical, hands on program you will learn a few simple principles, (not morals but rather universal laws of leadership) that when understood and applied will bring you immediate results.
Our experience in working with leaders at all levels is that more skills are not the answer. People aren't applying the skills they already have anywhere near as well as they could because they get stuck following procedures or techniques. Understanding the principles that govern all techniques will enable leaders to adjust the technique to suit the situation.
As an example, one of these principles is curiosity. Curiosity is the precursor for all learning, risk analysis, problem solving and relationship building. Great leaders are always asking questions, never assuming they already know it all and in the process building strong relationships with their teams. Developing your Curiosity Quotient will have impact on every aspect of your life!
Additionally, no matter what the problem, whether it be sagging performance, interpersonal issues, resistance to change and so on, curiosity will always help by engaging people… the face of delegation can change! |
