This course is designed for those seeking better results from their maintenance contracts. After decades of maintenance outsourcing, there are still significant improvements that can be made.
Contract management is becoming one of the core activities of overall asset management. In today’s increasingly cost conscious environment where every dollar must be justified, effecting thorough contracts and applying diligent governance is even more critical. No longer are contract specialists the only ones involved in the contract process, professionals of all disciplines have a vital role to play in the development of successful contracts and their ongoing management.
The increasing role of contracting means that the managing responsibility transcends the traditional, mainly administrative role. To manage today’s contracts, a direct role must be played at a strategic and operational level to ensure value for money is achieved and risks are minimised.
This hands-on training course will deliver the key framework for planning, negotiating and managing maintenance contracts. The course consists of two intensive days of pragmatic techniques comprising numerous interactive exercises, maintenance case studies and a role playing session, designed to assist you to determine the best and most effective contracting techniques for your organisation. About the Course Director |
Dr. Sara Cullen
Dr. Sara Cullen is the Managing Director of the Cullen Group. She is a former National Partner with Deloitte and one of the most experienced practitioners regarding contracting in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
She began her career in contracting in the US as one of the first auditors of supplier contracts and controls over two decades ago. Since coming to Australia in 1989, she has consulted to over 90 private and public sector clients, spanning 51 countries, in over 120 projects with contract values up to $1.5 billion per annum. The 60 functions she has worked with include call centres, claims management, construction, facilities management, finance, food services, HR, logistics, IT, maintenance, property, recreational services, sales, and security. She has designed partnering arrangements, franchise-type agreements, shared risk/reward structures, and incentive programs in addition to traditional arrangements.
She has had a wide impact on a number of industries in forming their strategic service provider relationships. Her clients have been in the banking, education, insurance, manufacturing, mining, petroleum, telecommunications, transport, and utilities industries. Her public sector clients cover numerous local, state, and federal departments and agencies.
She has been widely published on the subject and is highly sought after as a speaker and commentator. She is an internationally recognised author having written 45 publications, conducted seven reviews for government, featured in 60 articles and presented in 150 major conferences. She has released ongoing research with the London School of Economics, Oxford, Warwick and Melbourne Universities since 1994. Her in depth knowledge has been globally recognised, resulting in editorial reviews of contracting research for the Harvard Business Review, California Management Review, and the European Conference on Information Systems.
Sara holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, an MBA, and a PhD in contracting. |
